Awareness is like the sun. When it shines on things, they are transformed. - Thich Nhat Hanh
I am a registered Counselling Therapist (#112, CCTPEI) and Canadian Certified Counsellor (#10006802, CCPA) located in Prince Edward Island.
Why is this important?
Being a member of a regulatory body ensures that clients are meeting with a professional who has the proper qualifications, follows a strict code of ethics and upholds professional standards, and is continuing to learn and stay updated on best practices to maintain their registration. Therapists who are members of regulatory bodies are also more likely to have their services covered by most major health insurance plans.
I see clients in-person in Charlottetown, and work with individuals across Canada via telehealth.
My approach is grounded in well-researched practices including Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, mindfulness, and other behavioral modalities.
You can reach out for a free 10-minute phone consultation. This is a casual, no pressure chat. We will discuss your goals and see if I am a good fit for your needs.
In my practice, I am committed to providing high quality counselling to all my clients. I take my responsibilities as a therapist seriously, and here is what you can expect from me in our work together:
Putting Your Well-Being First
I will always act in your best interest and support your mental and emotional health. If safety ever becomes a concern - for either of us - we'll work with caution, clear boundaries, and a plan that protects both of us and our roles in the therapeutic process.
Keeping My Word
I always do my best to follow through on what I say and show up with honesty, care, and professionalism in every session.
Doing No Harm
I am committed to creating a safe space and will never do something that is intentionally hurtful or harmful.
Respecting Your Choices
You're the expert on your life. I support your right to make your own decisions and for you to be responsible for your healing process throughout therapy.
Protecting Your Privacy
What you share in therapy stays private. I will keep all of your information confidential, with a few exceptions (such as risk to self or others), which I'll outline clearly from the beginning of our work together.
Treating Everyone with Fairness and Respect
Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, fairness, and dignity. I strive to create an inclusive, nonjudgmental space for all clients whether they are in my physical office or having a session via telehealth.
Minding the Bigger Picture
I'm committed to practicing therapy in a way that is aware of how our lives are influenced by larger social, cultural, and community systems. My goal is to support you as a whole person, while recognizing how these factors can impact healing.
